The roads and lanes in South Shropshire are a cyclist's paradise. Cycling is one of the best ways to soak up the unspoilt landscapes along quiet lanes and country roads. A wide selection routes catering for all ages and levels of fitness are available, please visit the Shropshire Cycling website for more information.
The Anchor Adventure is a challenging ride that passes directly past the Crown which takes you along the Kerry Ridgeway with spectacular views, visiting some beautiful, remote hamlets along the way.
For more adventurous mountain bikers Hopton Wood offers plenty of challenges with switchbacks and technical climbs along the way. Lying amidst the glorious scenery of South Shropshire Hills, Hopton Wood is coniferous woodland covering an area of some 350 hectares. Here you will find 32km (20 miles) of forest roads, tracks and single tracks covering the woodland.
It's varied terrain offers leisurely or exciting mountain biking to suit all levels of cycling ability, 5 colour coded routes have been created to make picking suitable routes easy. Visit the Forestry Commission website for more information.
The downhill tracks in this woodland require a degree of expertise, you will need to be properly prepared with safety equipment and a well maintained bike.
